Part Time – WRQQ-FM – Board Op/Announcer – Baton Rouge, LA

Scope

Baton Rouge’s Classic Hits station WRQQ-FM is searching for the next on-air personality to entertain the Capitol City. Baton Rouge is the fastest growing city in the state of Louisiana and with major companies like IBM moving to the region and the excitement of both LSU and Southern Universities; you won’t have a problem adjusting to the southern culture. The Part-time Board Op/Announcer position is responsible for Executing and producing the format on the air through performing and interacting with audience and clients in studio and/or remote broadcasts to ensure station’s ratings success. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work evenings, overnight and weekends. Must be a self-starter who is highly motivated, dependable, detail- oriented and energetic. Displays professionalism and enthusiasm when representing Cumulus’ stations. Must have experience working within the community and in public domain.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Knows how to entertain, inform and relate to 18-34 demographic.

  • Responsible for show prep, manning the phones and conducting contests all in a quick concise, entertaining and professional manner.

  • Ensure logged commercials, promotions and any other programming essential to the stations operation are aired.

  • Off-air support of commercial production, dubbing music to hard disk and programming automation computers.

  • Make regular approved appearances at paid, and non-paid, station events.

  • Participate in regular listening/air-check sessions for critique with the Program Director.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of on-air experience, knowledge of Scott Studios, Adobe Audition, Voxpro, and other editing software a plus. 

  • Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, Cumulus Media., the FCC and all other federal, state and local laws.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills including public speaking and the ability to interact with listeners and clients in a public setting

  • Problem-solving ability and skill in prioritizing

  • Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels

  • Skill in operation of control board, remote broadcasting and other related production equipment

  • Familiarity with Scott-Studios or Op-x experience operating Vox Pro, and Adobe Audition is a plus

 

Education and Licensing Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must possess valid state driver’s license

 

Physical Requirements

  • May occasionally require lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
