After months of sharing mysterious hints of new music on the way, the Cure officially announced on Monday (September 23) that their first new single in 16 years will be released this Thursday (Sept. 26). The band shared an 18-second clip of the forthcoming new song, “Alone,” in an Instagram post,  where they revealed that the track will be released at 7 a.m. ET on Thursday, during an “exclusive first play” with DJ Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6 in the U.K. “Alone” is the apparent first single lifted from the Cure’s long-awaited new album, Songs of a Lost World, which is set to be released on November 2. That will be the first new studio album from the Cure since 2008’s 4:13 Dream, which peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 album chart upon its release. (Billboard)
