On Friday (November 8), the nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards were announced, and some big names filled the list of nominations in the Rock and Metal categories. The Beatles “Now and Then” is nominated for both Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance, while their contemporaries the Rolling Stones received a Best Rock Album nomination for Hackney Diamonds. Pearl Jam and Green Day were both nominated in all three rock categories, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. The Black Crowes, Fontaines D.C., Idles, and Jack White round out the Best Rock Album nominees. In the Best Metal Performance category, Gojira was nominated for “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!),” the song they memorably performed at the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris this summer. Metallica is nominated for “Screaming Suicide,” while Judas Priest is nominated for “Crown of Horns.” Spiritbox and Knocked Loose also received Best Metal Performance nods.
